With three stores in the Denver metro area, Altitude Dispensary knows cannabis success. We recently caught up with Jordan Atencio, manager of Altitude’s Aurora store, to learn more about the business.
Jordan has been in the cannabis industry for five years and brought his experience to Altitude when the Aurora store opened in October 2015.
The store has a loyal local customer base, but also draws heavy out-of-state traffic from nearby Denver International Airport. This mix of customers drives an average of more than 400 transactions per day for Altitude – a bustling retail business!

Altitude prides itself on delivering a great customer experience. “We stay on top of the trends in the industry. Whether it is demand for flower, concentrates, edibles or topicals, we try to orient our shopping experience around the latest interests of each customer.”
Yet, with the heavy volume of customers, Altitude struggled to effectively manage customer queues. There were times when as many as 25 customers were either in the waiting area or trying to complete a transaction. Altitude’s prior retail system couldn’t handle the volume.
“We had customers waiting upwards of 20 minutes and systems stalling. It was tough to find a day where we could tend to our customers without running around with our heads cut off. We had to begin discounting to keep people happy. At that point, it is not very constructive.”

“My life as a manager has gotten much easier. Issues that used to impact my daily routine are gone. I have more time to coach my employees.”
