Nov. 19-25, 2019 Dispensary Compliance Updates



In Alaska, the Alaska Alcohol and Marijuana Control Board voted unanimously to remove the Director of AMCO. AMCO will begin the process of finding a replacement for McConnell, who served as Director since February 2017.

In Maryland, effective December 1st, 2019, the MMCC and Metrc will require use of a new item category, “Vape Cart.” This item category will encompass any product that utilizes a vaporizer as part of its delivery system. (source Metrc Support Bulletin MD_IB_035)

In Michigan, recreational marijuana dispensaries will begin opening on Dec. 1, but 79 percent of the state's municipalities have banned the businesses from opening. Last week, the city of Detroit became the latest city to pass an ordinance barring growers and dispensaries from operating.

In Oregon, the OLCC published proposed rules with an addendum at the beginning of the month. All public comments must be submitted before December 1st. Comments and concerns may be shared with the OLCC rules contact Patrick Owen as well.

In Washington, the WSLCB published hemp and CBD FAQs for producers, processors, and retailers. 


The House Judiciary Committee has officially scheduled a federal marijuana legalization bill for a vote this Wednesday. The Marijuana Opportunity Reinvestment and Expungement (MORE) Act would remove cannabis from the schedule of controlled substances and emphasizes restorative justice for communities most impacted by the drug war.
