Thrust Bearing

A bearing that resists a thrust in the direction of the axis of a shaft. In a vertical turbine the thrust bearing is suggested to support the shaft weight.

A bearing that is designed to handle axial forces along the centerline of the shaft in a horizontal axis wind generator, this is the pressure of the wind forcing back against the blades.
