Open Circuit

An open circuit is just what it sounds like, There is no connection completing the circuit. This condition is what a fuse or circuit breaker does when protecting the circuit. An open circuit will cause a circuit or device to not function at all and is characterized by no current flow into the circuit where it exists. An open circuit prevents current flow through the circuit and back to the source.
