Current
Current is a measure of how many electrons pass a given point in an electrical circuit. The unit for current is the "Ampere" after the French scientist that first quantified it. The abbreviation for current in formulas is the letter 'A'.
Many pieces of equipment have a current rating, usually expressed in Amperes or 'Amps', listed on the nameplate of the device.
It's important to notice the difference between Direct Current (DC) and Alternating Current (AC), the first one is a current flowing in one direction only (such as produced by a battery), the second one is flowing back and forth (such as the current supplied by a wall socket).
To convert the DC kind of current into an AC current you need a device called an ""Inverter", to do the reverse you use a device called a "Rectifier".
