Battery Box
Battery Box It is generally accepted that your battery bank should be enclosed for safety. The box should also be actively ventilated whenever the batteries are being charged to vent hydrogen gas to the exterior of the building. Hydrogen gas is highly explosive, odorless, corrosive and lighter than air.
Enclosing your battery bank will add a level of physical containment to protect occupants and the room it is in from damage should a catastrophic failure occur. It also helps keep the batteries clean and helps avoid any mishaps from metal objects contacting live conductors and creating dangerous and damaging sparks from short circuiting the battery terminals.
Another function of the battery box (especially with 2 V cells) is to keep the batteries from 'sagging'. A sagging battery will have a bulge in it, which can cause the various plates to separate which will severely shorten its lifespan. In extreme cases the battery housing can tear with a nasty acid spill as a result.battery box for large bank
